Positive Energy Electricity Supply LLC Makes Charitable Donation to Connecticut Junior Republic Charity of the Month

April 14, 2011 — Middlebury, CT. — Positive Energy Electricity Supply, LLC of Middlebury recently made a charitable donation of $1,528.00 to the Connecticut Junior Republic (CJR), based in Litchfield, CT. The Connecticut Junior Republic is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping at-risk, special needs and troubled youth become productive and contributing members of their community. They are able to accomplish this mission of service by providing residential and community-based care, treatment and education programs for boys and girls and their families, and more than 1,000 young people and families are helped by CJR annually through its combined programs at nine locations throughout Connecticut.

"Having been a student at the Connecticut Junior Republic when I was a young and troubled youth, I can say that the program was a life changing event. Ms. Barton noted that the impact of such change benefits future generations profoundly and improves the quality of life for the entire community.
The Connecticut Junior Republic's residential program in Litchfield serves approximately 24 young men annually. This program is family-focused and utilizes the outstanding educational, therapeutic and recreational facilities on CJR's 150-acre campus to help youth re-engage with their homes, schools and communities. The Cable Academic and Vocational Education Center is also located on CJR's Litchfield campus and provides special, vocational and alternative education programs for approximately 70 boys referred from schools throughout Connecticut. Transition and related services, which help students develop independent living skills and successfully re-acclimate to their public schools and communities, are also provided. CJR offers short-term residential care for girls in crisis at its Center for Assessment, Respite and Enrichment (CARE) in Waterbury. Group homes for boys in East Hartford and Winchester provide a home-like environment for youth transitioning from residential placement to the community. Many levels of care are provided for children and families through CJR's community programs and Family Support Centers in Danbury, Meriden, New Britain, Torrington and Waterbury. Services provided in these locations range from prevention and early intervention programs to intensive, in-home therapy for boys and girls and their families.
